Admissions Information

Arrangements for School Admissions at 4+

Mayfield is a Voluntary Controlled school and East Sussex County Council makes arrangements for admissions at age 4+.  You will find a detailed description of these arrangements in the booklet ‘Applying for a School 2015-2016’.  This booklet is available from eastsussex.gov.uk/admissions, from Mayfield CE Primary School or from the following address:-

The admission limit for Mayfield CE Primary is 30 as the number of children entering the Reception year group.  If the school is oversubscribed, the authority uses the following criteria to decide entry:-

  • Looked after children and previously looked after children.

  • Children who will have a brother or sister at the school at the time of admission.

  • Children living within a pre-defined community area (see attached map).

  • Children living outside the pre-defined community area.

  • Successful appeals.

If you are informed that no place is available, you still have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel.  Appeals are arranged by East Sussex County Council by visiting eastsussex.gov.uk/schoolappeals

Arrangements for Admissions to any class during the year

Applications are made directly to the school.  Please contact the school office on 01435 873185 or email:  office@mayfieldcep.e-sussex.sch.uk

If no place is available, you will be receive a letter from East Sussex County Council Admissions Team explaining how you can appeal and the process for being put on a waiting list.  Please note parents/carers must apply to East Sussex County Council Admissions every term to be put/kept on a waiting list.
