Nurturing relationships, inspiring excellence, achieving potential.
Courage is definitely a good value for us to focus on this term, as we prepare for one of the biggest changes in our school lives since we started 'big school' - transition to secondary school. We have so many things to do over the term - Safety in Action, trip to see 'Gangsta Granny', attending leavers services, taster days and more - but we will still have time to reflect on our time at Mayfield and what skills and personal resources we have that will support us to make a positive step into the world of secondary education.
Falcons' children have so many skills, so much to offer that we are sure that they will be successful in their future journeys!
But now for this term! Our learning journey centres around the text 'Rose Blanche' by Roberto Innocenti and Ian McEwan. This book will allow us a look into a child's eye view of the Second World War and provide opportunity to reflect on the plight of Jews during this time. It is a beautiful book which deals with the subject matter sensitively and provides many messages about courage, freedom and peace. Our work in both History and RE will complement this, providing the children with an opportunity to look at this period in many different ways.
We will of course be also working on our play, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. Watch this space for photos of our rehearsals as well as the real thing!
