Robins Term 5

This term our topic is called "Where did the dragons go?"

We started this term by celebrating St.George's day! We've been exploring the story and retelling it in our castle role-play area!

See our curriculum overview here.

We painted our own shields!

We made castles from junk modelling!

We've also been exploring spring! We went on a spring walk and looked for signs of the season.

We saw lots of beautiful bluebells!

School Trip!

On Wednesday 22nd May we went on our first ever school trip! We went to Bodiam Castle to learn more about knights and what it was like to live in a castle a long time ago!

We were lucky that it was a lovely sunny day and we had lots of fun exploring the castle grounds. We had an education session where a lady told us all about life in the castle hundreds of years ago. She also talked about how long it takes to become a knight. We got to try on lots of different clothes and even got dressed up as knights in armour! We looked at lots of weapons, some of them were as big as us!

Then we had a picnic lunch, but the cheeky ducks stole a few of our sandwiches! After lunch we climbed the towers to see the view and then it was time to go back to school on the coach, it was a long day and some of us had a little sleep on the way back!

On Friday 24th May we celebrated Elmer the Elephant's 30th Birthday by having our own Elmer day!

We came to school in our brightest clothes and explored rainbow colours! We made our own Elmer ears to wear and made cards for Elmer.

In the afternoon we went on a character hunt to find the characters from the Elmer books and then we went on an elephant parade around the school to show off our ears!

We finished the day decorating biscuits and dancing!

We had special Elmer biscuits to take home! What a great way to end the term!
